Yet Another Conrtroversy...
This time about the Capitoline Wolf. Just when you thought you knew everything... And of course, the experts keep arguing. I just would like to see the test results written up and released so any reasonably intellgent person can judge it by themselves, instead of needing to piece it together from soundbites.

Carbon dating is not always a direct indicator of the age of the metal. Dating bronze is really difficult and error-prone. Especially since this one is probably shined up twice a month!!
But if all the data point to a certain date... then perhaps it is younger.
I suspect that perhaps it was a copy of the original... perhaps even made from the original material. Who knows?
Yeah, especially since they found the actual site of the cult of the Wolf on the Capitoline Hill, there ought to have been some kind of cult object there. And when I saw that 'carbon-dating' part I was like 'isn't that a bit too uncalibrated for such relatively short time periods? That's why I'd love to see the actual article/data.
Carbon dating, from what I can remember from my archeology classes was real easy to mess up and the samples could give you false readings if they had been struck by lightning (for rocks, anyway), but I could be mistaken.
It COULD be younger but I would wait until there was more evidence besides one person's theory as, sometimes, people have the tendency to read their data in a way that supports their theory.
Amen to that!
