Looking Up

Matthew 2:10

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

They saw the star because they looked up, not down. They saw the star because they were not busy thinking about that might be happening in the home they left to follow it, not busy about thinking about themselves, perceived or real hurts, past deeds or events.

Let us pray that we all can follow their example.
Let us rejoice by looking up.
Have a Blessed Christmas, everyone!

Zombie flu

A pox on their house when they say you don't get the flu if you got the shot this year. Pox, I say!
Okay, I got it relatively mild, but it still laid me out for most of the day yesterday. Still weak, but will mend. Now hopefully it will not come back shuffling and moaning like it did for a bunch of others. I mean, I have cookies, fish soup and roast geese to prepare, not to mention decorate the house and have a tree set up.
Argh.

Geese!

The Husband is my hero! He got on the phone Monday to hunt down some geese for me as that's what I wanted to prepare for Christmas dinner, arranged for the local Kroger to get some in by the end of this week, and picked up and delivered home 2 10 lbs beauties that currently reside in my freezer waiting for the weekend to be thawed.
Now to plan out the rest of the menu to compliment all that grease. Yum!

Happy Dance!

Or as my favorite sci-f writer says in this here blogpost, the sound of a million elves celebrating...

Radiosilence

Sorry for the silence, folks...life, ever helpful, intervened. What with my dad's impending surgery news and the worry over that, house chores, Advent, The Husband's insane teaching schedule that is in its final exam week now (yay!) and my new obsession over a certain game, blogging kind of took a backseat. Hopefully will be back on a more regular basis with some actual content for those who are missing it.

Happy Advent, for one! Ours is very joyous so far. I am looking forward to some quality baking this weekend, plus the last frenzy of gift-shopping needs to be done. We did the majority over the Internet last Friday--when finished, I must confess to a little victory dance I did around the library, chanting: "I've achieved, I've achieved, I've ACHIEVEEEEED!"

Mighty Mouse...

...shows no fear...
Whee!

Argh!

My dad's surgery was pushed back to January 14th.
::yanks hair in frustration::
Whoever wants 'Canadian-style healthcare' in the US would be heartily recommended to talk to me, please, so I can explain socialized medicine to them.

More Archeology from Italy

Sure a lot of digs yield spectacular results in Italy lately...what with the amazing exhibit of the villas near Vesuvius we've seen this year, and the plans for the archaeological park there slowly coming to fruition, this was a good year for Roman archeology for sure.
